MLA

I joined the team in October 2022. Prior to this I worked as a medical laboratory assistant (MLA) in routine Biochemistry for seven years where I learned how patient blood samples were processed for diagnosis, this taught me the valuable lesson of the need for quality maintenance, teamwork and gave me a pathology background.

I then moved to breast cancer research where I remained for eleven years, and in my role as Clinical Support Worker I was involved in many breast cancer clinical trials and research projects and learned the importance of processes and cancer research.

My current duties include receiving mail, receipt of slides for assessment and printing and dispatch of slides, as well as scanning of participant and reference slides. I am also involved in laboratory work and am currently being trained in immunohistochemistry techniques.
